INDUSTRY EXTENSION SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER PROGRAM The overall responsibility of the industry extension services and technology transfer program of the college as placed in the contries TVET Strategic document is to make competitiveness of the Small and Microenterprises (SMEs) The tools that ensures competitiveness of the SMEs are: A. Technical Competency (assessing the gaps of the SMEs and fill their gap, depending on Outcome based training according to Unit of Competences in Ethiopian Occupational Standards that aligns to their business priorities of the SMEs. B. Entrepreneurial competency( by assessing their gaps and deliver BDS). This has to be achieved through trainings and coaching implemented by college teaching staff making use of their skills and experience at the college level, insisting on entrepreneurship principles C. Technological capability (Identify technological gap, select appropriate technologies and accumulate and test an environmentally friendly production technologies and then transfer to SMEs members and farmers.) The technologies to be transferred/proposed to the MSEs might result from development and test at the college level or identification, selection and adaptation from outside. Technologies allowing substituting import commodities would be specially considered. D. Quality and productivity improvement competency ( by applying KAIZEN tools).
